Most Depressing Anime

If you're looking for something a little different, then "To Your Eternity" might be exactly what you need.Lets talk about my experience about this Anime.I assure that this Anime will hurt you.

Plot

The story follows a supernatural entity cast down to earth with the ability to replicate anything without life that creates a strong feeling. For example, it takes the shape of a wounded wolf who dies next to it. Now that it has legs, it's free to wander the land and become acquainted with people, learn from them, and take their form once they die.

I enjoyed watching the creature's journey because it starts at square one, learning the basics of walking and eating. It can feel the emotions of every life form around it, which prevents it from fighting or hunting. However, on occasion, it has no choice but to defend itself or its friends. Although I enjoyed its personal journey, my favorite moments were the ones focussing on the side characters.

Character writing

Considering our protagonist, Fushi is a blank slate, everything he will ultimately become depends on the qualities of those who surround him.The story is divided into several arcs following Fushi's experiences learning from different people.

For example, the solitary teen fending for survival in the artic searching for his family. The homeless boy and his brother with high aspirations who's abandoned and suffers a life-threatening accident.

The young girl in a tribal village who's chosen for ritual sacrifice, and last but not least, several teens stranded on a prison island due to their blood ties to criminals. I found most of these characters' stories touching and memorable as we experience their highs, such as falling in love, overcoming adversities, and of course, their generosity and goodwill.

But, naturally, we also witness their lows as they get in accidents, lose friends, and some eventually die. Considering the nature of this anime, it's not afraid to kill off characters, and when they die, Fushi is able to take their form and abilities and use them for his upcoming struggles. While an immortal creature morphing into different characters to suit his circumstance may sound like something out of a videogame, it's not as shallow as it sounds.

Fushi experiences a tremendous amount of inner turmoil as he's constantly reminded of his failures to those who died or were killed. He is endlessly reminded of his failures because he takes on their persona to accomplish specific tasks.

Although "To Your Eternity" sounds like a deep introspective anime that displays the human condition from its very foundation, it also contains many elements that some may consider jarring, such as fighting. Fushi is hunted by creatures known as Nokkers with similar abilities but can only take forms from him directly.

Although their motives are unclear, they are dangerous. I think it's too early to tell if the story is better for having action, but I enjoyed the dynamic of this immortal creature being helpless and having to rely on the mortals for protection.

Throughout the entire anime, Fushi is put in situations that challenge him by targeting his weaknesses, forcing him to evolve. While combat may be an unwelcome guest for some, it occupies a smaller portion of the series. Instead, its main focal point is Fushi's journey and the development of its side characters.

My two main complaints about "To Your Eternity" is its human villain is a little too psychotic to be taken seriously.

Compared to all of the other round, dynamic characters, a static psychopath sticks out like a sore thumb. My second complaint is that the opening spoils numerous significant character deaths and shows clips from many pivotal moments throughout the series. Needless to say, don't watch the opening. "To Your Eternity" is set to release its second season will come 2022, so, the anime is currently incomplete.

This season's content felt like introductory subplot, considering Fushi's development towards the conclusion and how far I suspect he will advance in the coming seasons.

Although it's not perfect, it is suspenseful, emotional, and different, so I'm sure many of you will enjoy the experience. Despite being incomplete. It's a slow-burn anime that mainly focuses on developing side characters. This is the type of show you'll want to watch slowly over a few weeks instead of marathoning in a few days.
