Cowboy bebop (1998)

Cowboy Bebop follows the struggles of a group of mysterious bounty hunters and a solar system where crime is spread and jobs are abundant. This anime quickly became a gateway for a generation of anime fans who are craving something a bit more mature 


Black Lagoon (2006)

Black Lagoon follows the dangerous adventure of an ordinary office worker who gets tangled up with mercenaries and decides to leave his monotonous life. Behind it's here that he meets the interesting and enjoyable character of revi who's practically a female Wolverine with a rocket-launcher.


ROMANCE

Nana (2006)

Girls share a name and an apartment but their personalities are anything but similar one is a naive helpless romantic and the other is a bit more independent with big dreams of being a rock star. It is also feel good series.


Mystery 

Serial experiments lain (1998)

Serial experiments lain is a psychological mystery following a young girl's existential crisis then coming to terms with her place in the world adapting to the information age it's only 12 episodes long but this one you will have to see twice.


Case closed (1996)

Case closed is an episodic crime mystery following a young man within the body of an even younger man it sounds weird I know and it looks weird too at first but this will quickly become your go to anime as most murder cases are solved within a single episode 


DRAMA

Legend of the Galactic Heroes (2018)

Legend of the Galactic Heroes is the story of a galaxy at war split between the rebel free planets Alliance and the Galactic Empire. Sounds like Star Wars with subtitles but plays out like Game of Thrones with subtitles. If you're looking for a story with a massive scope and countless highly detailed characters that the story isn't afraid to kill off you need look no further.


Gundam wing (1995)

Gundam wornthe pocket is set in the middle of a war in a pre-existing universe, but is completely episodic. It follows a young boy on a neutral space colony harboring illegal weapons. This young boy idolizes soldiers and a distant war but will soon experience a gripping reality check as he's introduced to soldiers on the opposing side sent to investigate these weapons.


HORROR

Helsing ultimate (2006)

Helsing Ultimate is a nearly 10 hour long popcorn flick including vampires zombies and Nazis if you're looking for a ton of blood and gore this is the place to go.


parasite (2014)

Parasite follows the struggles of a young man infected by some strange sentient shape-shifting creature which inhabits his right hand and many others throughout his town it's up to him alone to stop these creatures from eating people.


ADVENTURE

spice and wolf (2008)

Spice and wolf is an anime about mercantilism oh the wonderful world of trading things sounds boring but it's not and that's all thanks to the witty Halo and their bustling world set within the Middle Ages.


Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood (2009)

It follows two young boys caught in between a war and conspiracy on the search to restore their bodies after a tragic accident while attempting to revive their late mother with alchemy.


COMEDY

Excel Saga (1996)

If you like random humor you'll love Excel Saga. It follows girls and their emergency food supply on the quest to conquer the world for their boss. Excel saga is sure to lighten any mood with its non-stop self-aware comedy.


The devil is a part-timer (2013)

The devil is a part-timer is the story of a demon trapped within our world facing the struggles of rent and buying food who begins his daily grind at the closest thing they can get to a McDonald's without infringing on any trademarks although this is set within modern Japan.

Fantasy

Berserk (2016)

Berserk Set within a kingdom at war it follows guts a young mercenary content with nothing more than killing his enemies until the day he's introduced to Griffith than the ban of the hawk it's a story of bloodshed romance and betrayal.


Mushi-shi (2005)

Mushi-shi is the story of a man who is essentially a wandering Exorcist travelling researching spirits and assisting those who have been inconvenienced by them. It creates a breathtaking atmosphere almost feeling as if you're watching a movie in each and every episode.


SCIENCE FICTION

Macross (1984)

Macross follows a reluctant fighter pilot forced into the depths of space and thrust into war with a mysterious alien civilization. You would expect a story like this to be simplistic yet. It's anything but Mack Ross fully articulates the lives of its crew and manages to incorporate one of the few properly written love triangles. I've seen an anime this story is one that's not to be missed.


Psycho pass (2012)

Psyco pass is set within a futuristic society where sanity can be measured and tracked by law enforcement. It follows the lives of a few select detectives in dealing with what is essentially thought crime and having hardware capable of becoming the judge jury and executioner the Dominator is a pistol capable of reading its target sanity and transforming in order to provide appropriate amounts of force meaning that it can range from stunning a man to liquefying.


THRILLER

Monster (2002)

Monster follows a Japanese doctor and post Berlin Germany who unknowingly saves the life of a child who becomes a serial killer and takes everything away from him it's up to Dr. Tenma to track down this serial killer and put an end to his reign of terror if you love crime dramas then Monster is a must watch


Death Note (2006)

Death Note is the story of a young man gifted the power of a deaf God who wishes to vanquish the scum of the earth and create his own true vision of justice. The only thing that stands in his way is a legendary detective also looking to serve the world his own brand of justice writing names on a piece of paper has never been more exciting.
