The Northman || BADASS,BRUTAL and BEAUTIFUL || Pink Man

Plot

The northmen is the newest film coming from director robert eggers.Alexander skarsgard stars as the grizzled and ruthless viking amlath who seeks revenge for his father's death and his mother's kidnapping after his uncle betrayed his family.  Out of all the movies that i have seen this year skarsgard gives by far the best performance from an actor and is by far one of the front-runners for the oscar next year.

He brings it all in this movie and not just in acting but even in physical form as he bulked up immensely for the role to become the true badass viking that he is.The performances from the many other actors in this movie including anya taylor joy,ethan hawk, willem dafoe, nicole kimmen and kloss bang as the treacherous uncle were all very good.

where the movie excels is in its beautiful and incredibly well-shot cinematography which will almost certainly be another front runner for an oscar.

The action in the movie is depicted in the best way possible showing the brutality of these m time period along with being shot in the correct way of one shot takes and in wides. The tone is set pretty quickly early on along with the musical score only intensifying that immersive atmosphere the film brings.

The film is not without its flaws and i did pick up on a few things that i saw as issues for me personally. At times while the dialogue is really good i did feel it was very hard to understand at many points.

Overall

The film also tends to overstay its welcome as i did feel it was a little too long for a 2 hour and 20 minute film that could have shaved off at least 10 to 15 minutes of screen time.

Other than that there is nothing else i can really pick apart from this movie and with that i can definitely say that this film is a close to what we would call a masterpiece in the cinema sphere.

I certainly hope that robert eggers gets more respect in the future for just how good of a director he is. I would highly recommend you all go out and see it
