Who is Arthur Harrow ?
We're going to discuss the character Arthur harrow. As a whole moon knight is pretty faithful to the comics the one aspect that's probably changed the most is the character of arthur harrow played by ethan hawk. It's not a bad change by any means but it's a bit of a departure from the arthur harrow of the comics.
Arthur Harrow in the Comics
The comics version of arthur was a doctor and a candidate for a nobel prize for his work in the medical field. The left side of his face was paralyzed which caused him great pain.
It turns out that hero was actually experimenting on humans. Moon knight got involved and freed all the people he was experimenting on but in the end arthur got away.
That's really about all there is to the character in the comics which is why it's not that big of a deal that marvel opted to make some changes for the disney plus series.
Arthur Harrow in the MCU
In the moon knight series most of that backstory and the paralysis are all dropped in favor of making arthur harrow a former moon knight and servant of konshu. Mark isn't the first moon knight in the comics. konshu has had many avatars throughout the ages, but you don't get a ton of insight into who those people were.
While arthur harrow wasn't one of the moon knights from the comics for the series marvel dives into how konchu can twist perception and cause negative effects on the people he uses. As a former moon knight Arthur makes an ideal adversary for mark spector.
Egyptian Goddess Ammit
Arthur now serves the egyptian goddess Ammit and has a number of followers who can be identified by their tattoos of the scales of justice. The scales are from the egyptian underworld and used to determine if a person is worthy to enter the realm of the dead. Arthur uses the scales of justice to judge if people should live or die.
He has a fraction of ahmed's power which allows him to determine if someone will ever sin at any point in their life including future sins that have yet to happen. If he finds a sin he kills them. Arthur can also use ahmed's power to summon various creatures which he uses to attack moon knight throughout the series.
Arthur's Main Plan
Arthur's primary plan is to find the tomb of Ammit and unleash the goddess on the world. Ammit was sealed away by the other gods long ago in an effort to protect humanity.Ammit has the same ability as arthur's skills of justice except that the goddess isn't limited to one individual at a time and can judge the entire world at once.
If arthur succeeds and releases ammit she will judge everyone in the world and a lot of people will die. Arthur justifies this by using the example that ahmet would have killed hitler before he could cause any harm.
In the first episode of moon night we see arthur placing glass in his shoes this is because he's trying to repent for the sins he committed while serving konshu as moon knight.
It's a similar practice to many other religious rituals such as self-flagellation and self-mutilation. Arthur has a strong sense of right and wrong and while konshu waits until a wrong has occurred before punishing someone. Ammit will punish wrongdoing before it even happens in many ways arthur blames konchu for pushing him to this extreme.
